Bury Grammar School's talented musicians, many of whom were victorious at the Ramsbottom Music Festival at the weekend, were superb once again at the Joint Concert with Bury Music Service on Wednesday evening.
BGSBeatz began the evening with a performance of Radioactive (arr. Price), with Lucy C playing the piano.
The Senior and Junior Recorder Ensemble then stepped up to play This is me (Passek and Paul).
Our younger pupils also sung their hearts out. The Year 2 Choir performed Who will buy (Bart) and Tiger Tango (Lawrence).
We then switch back to Seniors as the BGS String Ensemble performed Somewhere over the Rainbow (Arlen) and All you need is love (Lennon and Macartney).
The BGS Junior Girls Choir gave renditions of Sing (Barlow) and I am a small part of the world (Albrecht and Althouse) before the Junior Year 2/3/4 Recorder Ensemble played Two at Teatime, Chicken Cluck Waddle and Jazzamatazz (all by Watts).
The final BGS performance of the evening was by the Junior Boys Choir who sung I am a Cat Called Alexander (Jesperson) and Go the Distance (Menken).
Bury Music Service Strings concluded the evening, performing Three Norwegian Pieces (Greg arr. Tomlinson), Brandenbury Concerto No. 3 in G Major 1st Movement (Allegro) by J S Bach and Hopak (Mussorgsky arr. Isaac).
Well done to everyone involved!
Bury Grammar School are pleased with our links with the local music service and encourage all our pupils to take every musical opportunity open to them.
