Girls' Junior School & Infant School update - 02/02/2018

Dear Parents,

Why does kindness matter? Aesop said, ‘No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted’ and we whole-heartedly agree. This week Grace Street was awarded a Headmistress’s certificate for noticing another girl sitting on her own at lunchtime and inviting her to join their table. For Grace, we know that she wouldn’t have given it a second thought as she is naturally a kind and generous person however sometimes it is important to recognise and celebrate goodwill. What an excellent example of behaviour to all our children.

Our student teachers leave us this week having worked incredibly hard and will be sorely missed by both children and staff. ‘Aim high and achieve’ are part of our BGS Aims, scholarship is something we foster in our children and they have demonstrated this in their approach to school life across our Key Stages from EYFS to Year 6. We wish them every success in their future careers!

As part of Year 4’s Humanities curriculum the girls enjoyed Spanish cuisine this week at a local restaurant in the town centre. The girls enthused about the culinary delights which made the rest of school feeling rather peckish… embracing the food culture supported the fascinating work they have been doing in school.

IK’s assembly this morning was delightful. Their singing filled the hall with joy and the parents looked on with pride. It is always mindful to appreciate how much courage it takes to stand in front of an audience and look out at expectant faces particularly at such a tender age. We were thrilled by our children’s efforts and clear enjoyment.

This Saturday we are hosting the annual AJIS Quiz. The girls have been working on their general knowledge and are looking forward to the challenge. Competition is fierce however we have every confidence in our girls and wish them the very best of luck!
