Girls' Junior School & Infant School update - 22/06/2018

Dear Parents,

It is not every day you meet extraordinary, talented people like authors and this week we have met two! On Monday, we were thrilled to welcome Clive Mantle the established author and actor. His latest book is The Treasure at the Top Of The World, of which I purchased a copy (one of my favourites). I recognised him from the television series Holby City so it felt like we actually knew him! It was a real privilege to listen to such an inspirational person engaging the girls in his enthusiasm about writing. Listening someone new who is passionate about their talent enthuses the children to want to rush off and create a story of their own or scour the library for a new adventure in which they can lose themselves.

Then of course, we discovered we have an author of our own.  This week one of our very own Year 4 girls has not only written a story but, with the help of an incredibly proud mum, has had her book published. The title is Ellie MacDonald – A Tale of Friendship and Adventure. You can find it on Amazon but you will have to be quick as we have already bought a set for our school library and I would imagine are selling out fast!

Today we held our first Gym Tots class. The children and their parents enjoyed the short story 'Dear Zoo' and then had an animal themed lesson. They practiced jumping like kangaroos, hopping like bunnies, slithering like snakes and crawling like crabs. The children explored rolling, jumping, balancing and throwing and had lots of fun. They used lots of equipment and then played and enjoyed juice and a snack with their parents. We hope to see everyone again next week and lots of new visitors too!"

I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Hall who orchestrated and delivered a fantastic Infant Sports Day today. The children had a brilliant time and were fully engaged throughout. Parents commented on how well organised the event was and the enjoyment of the children. The ‘icing on the cake’ were the lollies provided by the Parents Association, they were gratefully received by children and parents alike!
