Girls' Junior School & Infant School update - 25/05/2018

Dear Parents,

‘If music be the food of love, play on’ William Shakespeare. This week we were privileged to be part of Year 1 and Year 2 Informal Concerts. Having musical talent is a gift and not everyone is blessed with it however, this week you wouldn’t have thought this listening to our musical children. Every member of the concert played with great enthusiasm and sheer determination. This level of performance does not come without hard work and sustained practise. The children were fabulous! I cannot help but repeat myself by saying that performing in front of an audience is no easy task, I would challenge any adult to perform in front of a live audience particularly doing something they are learning and not well versed with. Our children have the confidence, strength of character supported by talented staff and nurturing parents to do just that. I am particularly impressed by children who are clearly out of their comfort zone but get up and ‘have a go’. One child in particular very tentatively took her place to play her instrument, sensitively encouraged by Mrs Dickson, played beautifully and after receiving rapturous applaud skipped back to her place – what a great sense of achievement!

The children throughout the school have marked the anniversary of the Manchester Arena disaster by taking part in silences, raising money in cake sales and hosting competitions raising funds to support families of the victims. What a caring a compassionate children we have.

Another successful Parent Forum took place this week. Thank you to all the parents who attended, we were able to answer questions raised and they brought some super ideas and suggestions too which is hugely beneficial to our schools. Thank you.

Finally this week, Pre-School assembly warmed the hearts of parents and children alike. They retold the story of Goldilocks with their acting talents, which can be seen on our website. Again, confidently the children sang beautifully and finished the half term off on a high.

We hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable half term and look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 5th June.
