Athletics

Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the Bury Schools Athletics Championships on Tuesday at Bury Athletics Track.

The weather did not disappoint, and neither did the performances! Many of our athletes achieved personal bests in their events and Beth W in Year 9 won Gold in in the Year 8 and 9 Javelin Competition. Furthermore, Rebecca J in Year 10 came first in a competitive 1500m final to secure victory. The Year 8 and 9 team can third overall and we are extremely proud of the effort, grit and determination they displayed throughout the day.

It was the first time that the Year 7s had competed at this event and and, whilst nervous, they were confident in their ability. Lola F and Katie B came second in their 800m and 1500m finals and Ozaram was pipped on the line, coming second in the 100m. Despite a stumble in the relay heat the girls secured a place in the final. A quick changeover practice and reshuffle of order saw Hannah P, Tolulope A, Lola F and Ozaram U come home in first position to secure not only 1st place in the relay final but also first place overall... Champions of Bury!

The Year 7 Boys team also came first overall in the Boys Competition and standing together for a 'champions' photo at the end of the day.... we definitely have some future sporting stars!

Tennis

Well done to the girls' tennis team who competed against Westholme School on Monday.

The Year 7/8 team won by 32 Games to 12 and the Year 9/10 team won by 35 games to 12.
