Reception are very enthusiastic about their regular visits to the Infant School Library. We take great pleasure in sharing stories, books and rhymes. The development of communication and language skills is imperative to learning. The children are expanding their vocabulary and increasing their understanding of how books work. Their imaginations are ignited and their sense of curiosity about the world around them is increased. The experience of sharing stories helps create strong relationships and secure attachments.
Blast off into a new term and a new topic! Year 1’s new topic this half term is ‘Moon Zoom’. The role-play areas in both classrooms have been transformed into space stations, including a large rocket for a child to climb into then venture on a space mission. The children are going to be learning about famous astronauts and many facts about the planets in our solar system. The children are enjoying dressing up, recalling the facts they know and sharing information with their friends.
This week in Year 2 we have started our new English topic on twisted fairy tales. The children have really enjoyed it and have been working on using descriptive language in their own writing. We have been working hard to make our sentences exciting, using new vocabulary and similes. The children are doing a great job!
