The rehearsals for Reception's Christmas play, ‘The Sleepy Shepherd’ are under way. The singing is progressing well and the acting is coming along. We are trying hard to learn our words and speak in loud, clear voices. This week some of the children have designed a cover for our programme. The attention to detail is impressive and the results are most definitely charming.
The Year 1 children helped the school to raise money for ‘Children in Need’ by coming to school in their pyjamas. Every child brought a teddy to school so we could share a ‘midnight pyjama feast’. The children enjoyed a picnic together. We then decided to play some party games to finish the party off. Everyone had a wonderful time – including Pudsey Bear!
In Year 2, the children have been learning all about towers, turrets and tunnels from around the world. This week they identified the key features of castles, including the moat, portcullis, courtyard and drawbridge. To consolidate their understanding, the children have built their own castles with these features, before painting them a stone colour. They are getting very excited about their forthcoming visit on Friday to Skipton and are eager to visit a real castle.
